How Many Hours Should Student Esports Players Train Each Week?
It is the question every new esports programme runs into within about a month. A coach wants more practice time, a parent wants less, and nobody in the room has a number they can defend. Individual practice. Solo queue, mechanical practice, role-specific work done outside sessions. This is the category that breaks weekly caps, because it is unsupervised and effectively unlimited. You cannot control it. You can set an expectation for it and ask players to log it honestly.

The rest day is the part most often dropped and the part most worth protecting. A programme that trains seven days a week is not training harder in any meaningful sense, it is simply removing the recovery that makes the other six days work.
Examinations, deloading and the case for a written cap
Training load should not be flat across the year, and pretending otherwise is what turns a good first season into a difficult second one.
Build the year with deliberate low periods. Examination blocks are the obvious one, and the cleanest approach is to suspend team training entirely for the duration and resume afterwards rather than trying to run a reduced version that nobody attends properly. Long holidays are another, where the programme sensibly goes quiet.
A written cap is what makes all of this enforceable. It gives the coach a reason to end a session, it gives the player permission to stop, and it gives the parent something concrete to look at.
